BC Cancer’s 2024 Cancer Emerging Multidisciplinary Research Programs supports research teams to initiate novel multidisciplinary research projects that aim to tackle well-defined issues or problems that affect patients living with cancer or at risk of developing cancer. Funding for the programs is provided through the BC Ministry of Health in collaboration with the BC Cancer Foundation.
2024 Emerging Multidisciplinary Research Programs Recipients:
- Dr. Nicole Chau for the project titled, “Minimal Residual Disease Detection and Recurrence Disease Monitoring Using ctDNA in Head and Neck Cancers as part of PATH (Personalized Approaches in the Treatment of Head and Neck Cancer).” Awarded: $1,200,000 over 3 years.
- Dr. Carol Chen for the project titled, “ReCoN – Targeting Drivers of Lethal Glioma Brain Tumours.” Awarded: $1,200,000 over 3 years.
- Dr. Kerry Savage for the project titled, “Metagenomics, metabolomics and immune profiling in melanoma: An integrative analysis platform for patients receiving immunotherapy.” Awarded: $1,200,000 over 3 years.
- Dr. Maryam Soleimani for the project titled, “The BC Cancer Provincial von Hippel Lindau Registry and Biobank.” Awarded: $1,115,083 over 3 years.
- Dr. Adi Steif for the project titled, “The BC liver cancer program (LivBC): understanding disease at the single cell.” Awarded: $1,200,000 over 3 years.
