The GSC is excited to partner with Genome BC (GBC)’s Geneskool to bring real-world genomics into the classroom as we re-open our doors to students and their teachers for educational tours.
We are thrilled to join Geneskool in their mission to inspire and educate the next generation of scientists about the rapidly evolving field of genomics. Through interactive and hands-on activities, Geneskool aims to make complex scientific concepts like genomics and molecular biology accessible and engaging to grade 9-12 students across British Columbia. The program offers classroom workshops, field trips, and a variety of other resources for students to explore real-world applications of genomics in areas like health, agriculture, and the environment. By fostering early interest in genomics, Geneskool helps students understand the significant role genomics plays in everyday life, from medical advancements to food production. It also provides young minds with insights into potential career paths in science and technology as they interact with working scientists at the frontier of cutting edge genomic research. We look forward to working with Geneskool through our fun and interactive tours to extend learning beyond the classroom, creating an inclusive environment where students can develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
